Mark Bathgate has 25 years of financial market experience in fixed income and global macro. He began his career at Morgan Grenfell Asset Management (subsequently Deutsche Asset Management) in 1996. He managed credit, asset-backed securities, and government bond relative value portfolios before assisting the establishment of a specialist interest rate macro investment product. Mark joined Goldman Sachs JB where as Head of Research for the proprietary trading unit in 2004 he worked closely with Bret Allender to develop the GTS Fund. He then was hired to UBS O’Connor in 2007 to work as Senior Strategist. He re-joined GTS as Head of Research in 2010. In 2012 Mark was a co-founder of ABD Investment Management -a macro hedge fund focusing on the G7 economies. He served as a portfolio manager at Bluebay Asset Management covering global macro markets from 2016 to 2019. Mark has also worked as a consultant for a number of European governments and policy institutions on market-related issues. Mark also contributes as a columnist to newspapers such as the Spectator on economic and public policy issues. He is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh.
