Magdalena Bernaciak is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Politics and Political Science at the American University in Bulgaria (AUBG). Prior to her appointment at AUBG, she worked as a Senior Researcher at European at the European Trade Union Institute’s (ETUI) in Brussels, where she specialized in the EU’s economic, employment, and social policies. She was also a visiting fellow at the Institute for Economic and Social Research (WSI) in Düsseldorf and at the University of Warwick’s Industrial Relations Research Unit (IRRU).
Magdalena holds a Ph.D. degree in Political Economy from Central European University, Budapest. Her research interests lie in the political economy of EU eastern enlargement; intra-EU labor migration and its regulation; interest group politics at EU and national levels; employment relations in Central-Eastern Europe; and transnational cooperation among trade unions. Her articles have appeared in the Journal of Common Market Studies, Economic and Industrial Democracy, European Journal of Industrial Relations, Industrial Relations Journal; she is also the editor of Market Expansion and Social Dumping in Europe (Routledge, 2015).
