Füracker has been and still is active in local politics in various offices, including municipal councilor in his hometown of Lupburg and as a district councilor in the district of Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz. From 2002 to 2011 he was deputy mayor of Lupburg and from 2002 to 2014 deputy district councilor. He held the CSU district chairmanship from 2005 until his election as district chairman in 2015. From 2006 to 2015 he was also chairman of the CSU federal constituency.
Since 2008 he has been a member of the Landtag, representing Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz.
From 2009 to 2013, Füracker was chairman of the Landtag Committee for Food, Agriculture, and Forestry. From 2012 to 2013, he was a member of the Parliamentary Monitoring Commission for the Energy Transition.
In 2013, Prime Minister Horst Seehofer appointed him State Secretary in the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance, Regional Development, and Homeland. In the same year, Füracker was elected CSU district chairman of the Oberpfalz.
In 2018, he was elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Flughafen Nürnberg GmbH.
In the course of the state election in Bavaria 2018, he was confirmed as Minister of State of Finance by Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder.
