Dr. Slobodan M. Markovic began his academic career in 1981 as an assistant trainee at the Faculty of Law, University of Kragujevac. Since 2000 he has been a full professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade, where he teaches intellectual property law in undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral studies. He has published over 60 articles and 8 books, including: “Patent Law” (Belgrade 1997), “Copyright and Related Rights” (Belgrade 1999), “Intellectual Property Law and Information Society” (Belgrade 2014/18), textbook “Intellectual Property Law” (in co-authorship with prof. Dušan Popović, Belgrade 2013/20). In addition to his academic engagement, Slobodan Markovic was, among other things, the director of the Serbian Intellectual Property Office, the chairman of the team of intellectual property rights experts of the UN Economic Commission for Europe, the head of the Serbian delegation at the diplomatic conference for the conclusion of the Treaty on the Law of Trademark in Singapore, team leader of the EU project “Capacity Building for the Protection of Intellectual Property in Bosnia and Herzegovina”. He speaks English and German.
