Born in Skopje, North Macedonia, he went on to graduate from the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Economics, where he obtained his Ph.D. degree in 1983, Study programs at the University of Bologna (1983-1984), London School of Economics (1996 – 1997).
He has been employed at the Faculty of Economics, the University of Belgrade since 1976 and was appointed full professor in 1997. Since 2014, he has been serving as a head of doctoral studies programs. His main fields of academic interest and research are methods of economic analysis, institutional economics, and social capital. He lectures at the Universities of Belgrade, Trieste (2005) and Bologna (2005-2009), the University of Economics of Prague (2007/08), the Wirtschafts Universitaet Vienna (2009/10), the University of Cassino (2011-) and the Corvinus University (Budapest, since 2015). He was a guest lecturer at many prominent universities and a participant in a number of European projects, mainly in Italy and southeastern Europe. He is a member of Ph.D. committees in France, Serbia, Italy. He speaks Italian, English, and Spanish. Some recognitions and awards:
